The Athletic understands that the midfielder, who left Brentford this month following the expiration of his contract, has agreed to make the move to Old Trafford, after verbally agreeing to a three-year deal with the club. “Fernando, Noah Okafor and I spoke after the game and said that we make a really good team. We are all fast and play well together,” Red Bull Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko said after last Friday’s Bundesliga victory over Austria Vienna. The 19-year-old Slovenian himself as well as his two teammates from Brazil and Switzerland each contributed a goal in the 3-0 win. Whether and how long Sesko will stay in the Austrian capital seems questionable in view of the large circle pool of interested parties. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and consistent English media reports, Manchester United have joined the list of interested clubs.

Manchester United’s summer transfer window hasn’t exactly gone to plan. If newspaper reports are to be believed, the club have failed miserably in their attempts to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been offering his services to just about every major club in the hope that someone would rescue him from Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag struggled to hide his true emotions ahead of his first Premier League matchday in charge of the Old Trafford side. The Red Devils begin their league campaign with a home tie against Brighton - a fixture that could easily expose holes in Ten Hag’s side and when asked about the club’s transfer business over the summer, the Dutch tactician wasn’t exactly overly ecstatic.
